Class Response: February 11, 2009

We briefly talked about Church in 'Second Life', which is a virtual community in which you can take on a different identity. A pastor decided to create a church in this virtual reality. I have concerns with this because it redefines the church. There is preaching but how about administering the sacraments, baptism, and correction? Some people argued that it is a positive thing because you can be who you are and come to church without worrying about being judged. But when I really think about this, it is ironic. So you can pretend to be someone else and people will accept a artificial you? It is an interesting phenomenon but i don't know if i can call it church.
