If i don't...whose gonna do it?

I have served at church for almost over a decade now in many different ministries. Just a few:

- Praise Team (Drummer/Co-leader 10 years)
- Small Group Team (6 years)
- Sermon Committee (1 year)
- Pastoral Search Committee (3 years)
- Leadership Board (2 years)
- Director of College Ministry (2 years)
- VBS (6 years)
- Missions ( 6 trips/2 trips as a leader)

I share this not because i am boasting about my amazing service to God and his Church, but rather to be example of what not to do when it comes to serving at Church.

My attitude was to help out as much as i can. If no one was going to do it, i decided to go ahead and take that responsibility. I don't regret doing all these thing. I believe that i have grown and mature through these experiences.

But if you look at the years that i served in each ministry, there are overlaps. There wasn't a year where i served in ONLY ONE ministry.

I thought if i didn't do it, no one was going to it. This is pretty dang arrogant of myself and undermining God. Not only that, but because my mind, body and soul is divided in all these different ministries i am unable to do any of them really well, with excellence. Because i occupied all those positions in ministry, it didn't allow others to serve which is selfish (although unintentional) on my part and retards possible discipleship for others.

Choose one and give everything you have in that ministry, stay committed and faithful. What about the other areas that are in need? Have faith! Faith that God will provide. Allow others to take a step of faith and serve in those areas.

The void in those ministries may be there for a while, but trust in God! don't take things into your own hands. Be prayerful of where you think God wants you to serve, look at your giftings (don't know? ask someone), and then make a decision. Every decision requires faith, make the one that demands more faith.

Fall in love with God and with others!

Peace
