Savior I come
Quiet my soul remember
Redemptions hill
Where Your blood was spilled
For my ransom
Everything I once held dear
I count it all as lost
Lead me to the cross
Where Your love poured out
Bring me to my knees
Lord I lay me down
Rid me of myself
I belong to You
Lead me, lead me to the cross
You were as I
Tempted and trialed
You are
Te word became flesh
Bore my sin and death
Now you're risen
To your heart
To your heart
Lead me to your heart
Lead me to your heart
These are the lyrics of a worship song. I heard it on a CD before, but it was the first time I actually sang it at a worship service two weeks ago and again yesterday.
This has to be one of the most bold praise songs out there! I found myself not being able to sing it at certains points of the song. Sections like "LEAD ME TO THE CROSS" and "LEAD ME TO YOUR HEART". These are some bold statements.
Being a part of the worship team for over 10 years, i have become sensitive to lyrics and music that i play and sing. Sometimes i don't think we really know what we are singing.
Let me explain. "Lead me to the Cross....."
This may mean, wanting to be closer to Jesus. But if you really think about it, the path to "the cross" has to be one excruciating, humiliating, and self-deprecating experiences in the world (physically, emotionally, spiritually). Jesus Christ passed through the sea of people being mocked, spitted on, and beaten while holding an unreasonably huge piece of wood. Then giving himself up to be nailed to a 'tree', although innocent died a criminal's death, abandoned by his Father, and ultimately died. This was God's will.
Can i give my life to a mere nothingness, be rejected by men, spitted on, mocked, or beaten?
